  • Passing of Don Chute
I wanted to pass along the sad news of Don Chute passing away 9-1-10 due to liver cancer. Don was an icon & legend in the window cleaning industry and great friend to many and an expert at pure water cleaning. Don was inspirational with getting the residential aspect of window cleaning known and on the map with the IWCA. Those of us in the window cleaning industry are very saddened with the passing of Don as he left us way too soon. He leaves behind his lovely wife Holly & their kids (which were their dogs) I apologize if i placed this in the wrong thread/category but..i'm sure there are a few of you who either knew Don Chute or heard of him. • Start the process of learning
Okay, I am new here. I dont wanna call myself a newbie because I read one guy said discussing prices and such with newbies creates low ballers. I am in the property care business meaning we do a lot of different things for our clients. Some of which has been deck cleaning. Ive done okay with it but I know we can be better and more efficient. I also dont want to be a low baller. That said I am looking for sound advice. To start I would like to ask for the best reciepe for a cleaning solution when doing a deck and I am certain there are some different ones for woods such as cedar. I am all for the spray on and rinse off type of cleaning. I would like to use something to basically eliminate brushing for the most part. I wouldnt mind some good how to books and liteature as I am getting more and more of this type of request. What is the best sealer to use once deck is clean? Ill take an ABC someone is willing to offer a geniune willing to learn individual.

  • Pavers
I had a question regarding pavers. I have been running for a few years now and I am getting into some commercial work.. I had a question regarding pavers. I looked thru all he posts about cleaning pavers and I am still a little concerned . This job will be for a franchise fast food chain that has pavers at front entrance that are set in sand, has some algae in joints and black staining on it at traffic area. Do I clean these pavers with high heat at 3000 psi with my surface celaner, or do I lower the psi and just use a good chemical & low pressre wash? I don't want to damage the pavers and I am concerned about the whole sand issue. Will i need to re-sand the entire area or not? If so what type of sand? This resturaunt already got 1 other bid and I want to be competative. If you can help me out I would really appreciate it. Also what is typical for pricing, is it around the same for concrete work ? Thank You so much in advance if you guys can help.
  • New Roof Cleaner - Need setup advice
Hey Guys. I have been researching roof cleaning for about a week now after seeing a company complete a great job at a house adjacent to one that I was working on (my father is a contractor and I was building a bay window that day). I am a college graduate and it has been impossible to find a "paycheck job" over the last 3 months so I am thinking this may be a great way to go. I just need some advice on an exact rig setup. I understand I need a truck and tank, but the actual hose/pump setup is my trouble. Also, where is SH readily available? Any advice would be great.
  • Used Equipment Hydrotek SC3000 Series Pressure Washing Rig/Trailer/Accessories + MORE ,900
Up for sale Excellent Working condition Hydrotek Pressure Washer Rig with Everything you need to start plus MORE... includes the pressure washing unit (Hydrotek SC3000 series, Kohler 25 hp Command, Cat 660 pump), 12' trailer in excellent condition, 20" NEWER surface cleaner (just purchased for 0), older surface cleaner, hoses, all accessories, extra parts, supplies, tires in excellent condition.... The unit is a commercial quality industrial rig capable of doing everything from small driveways to large commercial/indaustrial accounts like garbage trucks, parking lots, large commercial/industrial buildings with FAST completion times with HIGH quality results...and the list goes on. It is a HOT /cold, 9 gpm, 3000 psi, very well maintained by my husband who is a jet engine mechanic in the military (he keeps it up, complete regular maintenance, covered and immaculate). It also has a custom made topper/ladder rack (think we paid about 0) so that there is plenty of room for additional supplies/ladders. This unit also has the WATER RECLAIMATION UNIT (think it is a 00-00 option) located on the back that many commercial accounts require and we have the "dam" system as well that is included. As of today the unit has 508 hours. The current signage (just paid 0) is also included as this signs can be flipped and you can have your own logo and info added to the other side... if you are buying locally... it is already done for you if you wish to take over the name and leads from the advertising. (You will have to get your own phone number, but all leads coming to us will be sent to you if you end up local--the phone number is tied to our other business.. a written agreement to that effect is not a problem---we want you to succeed!!) Price is ,900 OBO. We are not desperate and this is not a distress sale, this unit is in EXCELLENT working condition, as are all parts and accessories, so we are looking at providing a fair price for both you and us... we want to find someone either locally who wants their own business and we are glad to help you get going... or if you need this equipment to add to your own business in another part of the country ... it will serve you well either way. The only thing not included that you see in the pics is the "constructor cone" as my husband uses this for another business....otherwise everything you see is included PLUS tons of stuff you don't see (New parts, never used dam system, NEW replacement cartridges for Water Reclaim unit). Reason for selling: My husband is in the Air Force Reserves and will be deployed 2 times in the next year and a half.... he just got back from a 4 month deployment... we also have two other business and can't handle keeping up with doing the work and no time to market it as we are spread too thin. Great opportunity for someone to take it and run. This unit can be viewed by personal appointment only. We can also bring the rig to you for inspection if you prefer within a reasonable distance (Gainesville / Tampa / Ocala is possible) for VERY serious inquiries, depending on our schedule for being in those areas. You can contact my husband.. Scott at 352-586-8667 CELL (BEST Way to Reach Him) or 352-795-0100 during business hours to leave a message for him to discuss any details.
  • Storm door - gold kick plate
Anyone know if its possible to replace just the gold plate on the bottom of an aluminum storm door? Normally I dont have any problems with them but homeowner had a brand new one installed and called to tell me it got spotted and when she wiped it off the gold came off as well. Looks similar to the picture attached...you can see the gold piece (maybe 2 inches tall) across the bottom of the door *edit: The storm door in question butts right up to a wood deck we cleaned with stripper and brightener...I'm not sure which one of them may have caused the damage to the finish. Everything was prewet and rinsed afterward but the chemical must have acted on it right away
